By Grace Bolton Altar duty for the month of February will be covered by: Donna Dolinar (301-472-4997) and Grace Bolton (301-274-3486). If you have any special requests or concerns during February, please contact Marge in the church office at 301-884-3773 or our Rector, The Rev. Erich Junger at 703-881-1556. This would apply to weddings, funerals and other special services that might arise so that they may assist you. We are now moving ahead in the new year of 2010 and in our Christian church calendar we are still in the Epiphany Season with the Last Sunday After the Epiphany on February 14. February 16, called Shrove Tuesday, we will be having our annual pancake supper in the church hall beginning at 6:00pm. Everyone is welcome to participate and attend. Please extend the invitation to your friends, family, neighbors, etc. Food donations will be welcomed. The following day is Ash Wednesday, February 17. There will be a service of Holy Eucharist on Ash Wednesday at 7:00pm. You will note our altar hangings will change from the color of green (remembering living things and God’s creation) for the Epiphany to the color of purple (penitence) for the Lenten season up to Palm Sunday, March 28. Please remember our altar flower chart on the bulletin board at the church entrance for signing up to donate flowers in honor, memory or thanksgiving of loved ones. In February we only use flowers during the first two weeks as we will still be in epiphany. Once Lent commences we do not place flowers on the altar during Lent until Easter Sunday. A sign up sheet will be included in the next newsletter for Easter flower donations. The sign up sheet for altar duty is also on the bulletin board for interested persons to assist with altar guild duties during the year. Contact me if you have questions regarding the schedule. January 31 – Offered for the souls of Bill and Tina Junger, his parents, and Karl Junger, his brother, by the Rev. Erich Junger. |
