By Kathy Roland, Senior Warden
I would like to thank Terry Ressler, Paul Dolinar, and Emily Clifton for their efforts in working the issues with the water seeping into the hall. They have been digging up drains and cleaning them out. The leaks and water seepage is an ongoing issue and they have taken an active role in finding solutions.
Over the last few months I have been reading articles about growth in a church. Many of the articles compare a “Growing Church and a Dying Church.” It is no surprise that we have become a dying church rather than a growing church.
What are we to do? My initial reaction was to wait until we had our “new minister” in place. Then we could dump that issue into his lap and let him “grow” our church. The reality is, it is up to us, each and every member, to play an active role in increasing our membership and implementing meaningful programs to support growth.
We need to become “fishers of men” rather than “keepers of the aquarium.” Paul Dolinar is a good example with movie night and monthly breakfast. It is up to the rest of us to support his efforts and find other ways to promote growth not only in our church but in ourselves as well.
